Mexico at last
From Yesterday:
Today traffic was a bear. It was really slow going. We stopped for lunch around Camp Pendlton. We ate then Nick left to get Valerie and Kennan. It was a nice stretch break. We hung out and some played soccer. Then we hit the road. We went through the border like it was an open barn door. Didn’t get stopped or anything, no passports nothin. God is better than good! We all got straight on the 1. That is the freeway to Ensenada. The first thing I noticed was I had 0 phone coverage once we crossed the border. Bummer, will see if that can get figured out. There were about 3 toll booths on the 1. The road was pretty good. One bridge we crossed was being repaired. Our lane was detoured into the other lanes bridge. The only barrier on the bridge was that orange construction mesh.
It was really pretty going throught he mountains next to the coast. We would get a break and see the surf. Then we got into Ensenada. It was a little hairy driving but we made it to the Home Depot and we took the kids for a potty break at Wal-mart. Then off to the Church. When we arrived it was kinda cool, all these kids came out and were waving at us. Some adults did too. We unloaded the trailer and talked with Pastor Ernesto and his family for a bit. Then it was time for dinner. We drove back into Ensenada. It’s about 20 minutes away. We went to the same strip mall that Home Depot is in. There are several eating options. Luis and I went to AppleBee’s. It was good. Then we headed back to the Church which is where I’m writing this. We set-up our beds and talked with some locals. Some of our girls were talking with some little local girls it was cute. Luis, Jose, Bianca and I met a man named Lucas. We chatted with him a bit. He is one of the people who did a lot of the construction here at the Church.
While some of us headed back Drew, Nick, Caryl, Pam and Ernesto went to Home Depot for building supplies. Pam told me for some reason the HD would not accept the HD card we had. The amount was so large $1,500 US. But here that is quite a bit more. For instance my burger for dinner was $875.00 in local currency, I guess peso’s but I don’t know. Oh yea, our waitress was very nice, Luis did a good job talkin with her and they didn’t throw us out!
We’re all very tired it is about 9:45pm right now. I can’t wait for bed. I’m not sure if I’ll be able to get pic’s up but I will see what I can do.
Love you all.

Thanks, Scott. I talked to Buffi this morning for reassurance! Jo has been emailing me, as worried as I have been. So good to hear how well the border went! I’m sure hoping for more pics, but I know the connection issues from travel in Africa and China! I think they call it dial up…if they have connection at all! Give Nick and Kyle a high 5 for me and a hug for Caryl and Maddie:) Loving and praying for all of you!
Thanks Karen
