To Know That You’re Alive

A few years ago while I was trying to find some Christian music with a style I like, I came across a couple of bands. Kutless was one of them. For me if something’s labeled Christian music, that doesn’t necessarily make it Christian. As a Christian I feel like I need to watch what I fill my head with and so I’ve pretty much cut secular music out of my life. I don’t want to have lyrics that don’t glorify Jesus or go against what Christ tells us walking with Him should look like running through my head. For me that is what separates Christian and Secular music, the lyrics. Music in and of itself is neither Christian or non. I’ve found lots of bands who say they’re Christian but when you listen to the lyrics there is nothing Christian about it, it’s not that it is bad, but there is no message there, it’s just about stuff and doesn’t point to Christ or a relationship with Him. Kutless is not one of those bands. From the first time I listened to them I loved their sound (Rock – Grunge) and their lyrics which are all about a Christian life, encouraging stronger faith, or worshiping God. Their worship album “Strong Tower” is great. The new release is a continuation of that tradition and I like it a lot. Lots of catchy riffs and lyrics. If you have not listened to them give them a go.
