Abiding
Mexico 2008 – Your life in Christ – Abiding
Yesterday we looked at faith in Christ’s return and knowing that He is coming and what impact that should have on your life today. I say should because it’s easy to become distracted by the world and forget what we’re supposed to be doing as believers isn’t it? On the 21st we read 1 John 2:1-11. Today we will take a deeper look at how we can know if we are in the faith, as well as in the process of sanctification. In essence, how we can be sure we are saved.
Abiding:
2Jn 1:9 Everyone who goes on ahead and does not abide in the teaching of Christ, does not have God. Whoever abides in the teaching has both the Father and the Son.

- What does Gods Word say about people who don’t abide in Christ’s teaching?
- What Picture comes to your mind as Christ talks about Himself as a vine and us, as the believers as a branch?
- What is the evidence a person has as proof that they are a Christian?
- What is the only way as believers we can bear fruit?
- What privilege do we gain by abiding in Christ?
- What is accomplished by you, when you do bear fruit?
Living it out:
One thought that has helped my family and I in trying to live out our faith in everyday situations is asking ourselves: “If Christ returned right now would I be ashamed to have Him find me doing what I’m doing or thinking what I’m thinking?”
