Yesterday we looked at trusting in Christ and the essentials of the gospel. Today we look at His promise to return. Have you ever thought about the reality of Christ coming back? Have you wondered like me, when? After all it seems like it’s been forever! He is coming back. We can say this is true because scripture tells us so. The term for the study of Christ’s return and the last days is Eschatology.
Great Comfort & Guarantee
Jesus himself comforts us and gives us a guarantee he will return, in John 14:1-4. Then when Thomas in verse 14:5 asks Jesus, How can we know the way? Jesus answers with a clear message on the only way get to heaven.
John 14:1-6
14:1 “Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me.
14:2 In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you?
14:3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also.
14:4 And you know the way to where I am going.”
14:5 Thomas said to him, “Lord, we do not know where you are going. How can we know the way?” 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
